Lady Rebels fall in tournament title game

Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 | 9:58 a.m.

A battle of former conference foes rekindled an old rivalry as the UNLV women's basketball team fell to host Hawaii 71-66 in the championship game of the seventh annual University of Hawaii Invitational on Sunday night.

Both teams are now 5-2.

The Lady Rebels' Constance Jinks turned in a team-high 15 points, before fouling out of the game with 3:55 left.

Tournament co-MVP honors were shared by UH's Christen Roper and Natasja Allen. Jinks was named to the all-tournament team along with Tamika Dudley (Long Island), Jenny Pfeiffer (Kentucky), Jade Abele (Hawaii), Roper and Allen.

UNLV returns home this week to host nonconference games against Iona on Friday night and No. 24-ranked Arizona on Sunday. Both games are scheduled for the Cox Pavilion.
