Peachy Canyon Winery started on Peachy Canyon Road in Paso Robles, but the Beckett family soon outgrew the location, and today the winery has moved to larger digs on a different road.
This wine is really 100 percent Zinfandel, and has all the characteristics of that grape: strong tannins, a high alcohol content, pepper and oak in the nose, and lots of fruit. It's a medium-body wine redolent of cherry and strawberry, with a lovely ruby red color. Drink now, or within the next two or three years.
Available at Lee's Discount Liquor and Trader Joe's, $11.
