Money Matters free seminar set Saturday
The Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Kappa Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., will host the fourth annual Money Matters seminar from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd.
The free seminars will include: "Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit"; "Assessing and Improving the Value of Your Property"; "Legal Issues and Financial Planning"; "Investing Basics"; "Job and Employment Skills"; "Scholarship and Financial Aid Preparation," and "Managing Your Bank Accounts and Finances."

Project Challenge targets at-risk youths
Nevada Project Challenge is seeking at-risk youth, ages 16-18, for its spring semester.
The project includes a five-month residential program conducted in a military environment followed by one year of post-residential mentoring. It focuses on developing discipline and responsibility to provide graduates the basic educational and social skills needed for future success in life, program advocates say.
There is no cost or military obligation to students or families who enroll in Project Challenge.
The program targets teens who are at risk of failing to complete their secondary education. Youth enrolled in the program will follow a daily schedule that will include physical training, academic work and personal development perspectives.
The key core curriculum of the program allows participants to earn their General Education Development diploma and learn job skills that lead to a career.

Restaurants donate to fire prevention
Two Tony Roma's restaurants will be donating money to benefit the Southern Nevada Fire Prevention Association.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, 10 percent of all receipts will be donated to the programs of of the association.
A fire truck will be on display at each location and fire prevention personnel will answer questions about fire safety. The Youth Firesetters Intervention Program is a new program the association is forming. The program is aimed at children who experiment or play with fire and will educate children and the parents about the consequences.
Another program of the association is the annual Fire Safety Poster Contest in which elementary students can submit posters about fire safety. For more information call 229-5911.
Basketball game focuses on adoption
The First African Methodist Episcopal Church of North Las Vegas is hosting a celebrity basketball game Saturday to benefit special needs adoption and foster care awareness.
The game will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Western High School, Decatur Boulevard at U.S. 95.
The theme for the campaign is "Every Child Deserves a Home." Several organizations attending will present Christmas gifts to the adoptive children.
First AME Church along with the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services has a campaign designed to meet the needs of children available for adoption. The purpose is to help the problem of a disproportionate number of adoptive children in the custody of the state.

Rebuild America workshop on Friday
The final workshop in a series of five sponsored by Clark County and the Energy Department's Rebuild American program will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday in the County Government Center Commission Chambers, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
The topic of the program will be Load Management -- Flattening the Peak. The series is free and open to the public and should be of particular interest to facility and operations staff, architectural/engineering and construction and design staff.

The Las Vegas Chapter of the 100 Black Men

The American Red Cross
