Arbitrator rules against firm

BILOXI, Miss. -- Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. must pay $4.5 million in damages for canceling plans for a casino in Jefferson County, Mo., a panel of arbitrators has ruled.

The panel ruled that the company owed the money for vacating a lease on land located in Jefferson County. Isle of Capri, which owns and operates 13 casinos in Mississippi, Louisiana, Iowa and Missouri, is asking a U.S. District court to vacate the arbitration award.
