New Orleans-themed chain coming to Vegas
Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 | 10:15 a.m.
Crescent City Beignets, a "fast-casual" New Orleans-themed restaurant chain, announced plans to open 10 units in the Las Vegas market.
Las Vegas resident Michael Berkovitz has contracted to open the restaurants, the first of which is expected to debut within the next six months, said Jeff Percey, director of franchise development for the Houston chain.
The Las Vegas deal is the second largest for Crescent City Beignets. The chain recently sold 20 units to be built in Atlanta City, Percey said.
Crescent City restaurants and kiosks will serve food like gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya, sandwiches, salads and beignets -- fried square pastries doused with powdered sugar that are famous in New Orleans.
