Porter names two top staff members
Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 | 11:14 a.m.
Congressman-elect Jon Porter, R-Nev., on Thursday announced that the top of his staff list will include one former employee and one current employee of U.S. Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev.
Porter has hired Windsor Freemyer to be his chief of staff and Traci Scott to be his press secretary.
Freemyer was legislative assistant to Ensign when Ensign was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Scott is Ensign's current press secretary.
Freemyer was chief of staff for Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, from 1998 to 2000.
Scott worked for Porter during his campaign and is a former television reporter for KLAS Channel 8 in Las Vegas.
"I can't think of a better core team to open Nevada's first 3rd District office," Porter said.
Porter will be sworn in with the rest of the House's freshman class on Jan. 7, when his new staff will begin work. Ultimately, Porter is likely to hire 13 or 14 total aides to staff his office in Washington and one in his Nevada district, said Porter transition team leader Mike Slanker.
