Updated Dec. 6, 2002
Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks report that fishing continues to be slow in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead.
A few boaters fishing with anchovies were successful landing stripers that measured 14-18 inches. Smaller stripers that ranged from 12-15 inches were taken in the Muddy River area.
Shore anglers fishing the lower campground area of Echo Bay were landing stripers that ranged from 14-18 inches. Anchovies were the bait of choice.
Shore anglers using PowerBait were successful landing rainbow trout in the Horsepower Cove area. The fish ranged 9-12 inches.
Boaters using anchovies in the lower Boulder Basin around Black Island and the Saddle Cove area reported fair success for stripers that averaged 18 inches. Today, the NDOW will stock Hemenway, Pumphouse and North Saddle Coves.
The fish tend to move closer to shore at night to feed.
Willow Beach anglers reported success for stocked rainbow trout following the weekly NDOW stocking. The fish averaged 12 inches. NDOW will stock this area on Dec. 12.
