Showcase
Las Vegas Arts District will showcase local artists, unique shops and street entertainment 6 p.m.-10 p.m. the first Friday of each month at Main Street and Charleston Boulevard. Admission is free. 678-6278.
Shooting society
The Single-Action Shooting Society Convention and Wild West Christmas exhibits will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Sunday at the Riviera Hotel. Admission is free. (714) 694-1800.
Light festival
The second annual "Gift of Lights" will run through Jan. 1, 5-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 5-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. Admission is $10 per car. Partial proceeds benefit Clark County Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund for Disadvantaged Children.
Light festival
The Ethel M Chocolates Botanical Cactus Garden, 1 Sunset Way, will be illuminated from sundown to 10 p.m. until Jan. 5. Also from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Santa will be there to see children. Admission is free. 737-3100.
Dance, concert
Community College of Southern Nevada's Dance Ensemble presents its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. today and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nicholas Horn Theatre, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. Admission is $8; $5 seniors and students. 561-5483.
Holiday dance
Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and the Sociedad Cultural Hispana present the fourth annual Holiday Dance Festival at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Library Theater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is free. 507-3459.
Boat parade
Lake Mead Boat Owners Association, the National Park Service and the Lake Mead Marina present "Parade of Lights" at 6 p.m. Saturday starting at Lake Mead Marina and traveling along Boulder Beach before returning to the marina. Admission is free. 655-3293.

The third annual Student Fashion Awards will be at 6 p.m. Monday in the UNLV Classroom Building Complex, Room C122. To RSVP, call 314-9589.
Lecture
Las Vegas Arts Commission presents a lecture by environmental public artist Buster Simpson at 7 p.m. Monday at Neonopolis at Fremont Street. Admission is free. 229-6844.
Artist speech
