Acting on an anonymous tip, Metro Police found the dead body of a missing man Tuesday in the trunk of a rental car parked near Charleston Boulevard and Rancho Drive.
The victim, who police said was in his 30s, had been reported missing by his mother Nov. 28. The body had not been positively identified as of this morning, according to the Clark County coroner's office.
Police received the anonymous call on their non-emergency line about 3 a.m. Tuesday. The person said the body of a missing person could be found in the trunk of a car parked near University Medical Center.
Patrol officers found the body in the trunk of a Mercury Sable parked in the 2000 block of Goldring Drive. He was the victim of a homicide, Homicide Sgt. Ken Hefner said.
Hefner said detectives hadn't yet determined if the victim rented the car or if it was rented by someone involved in the homicide. The car was rented locally, he said.
Hefner declined to talk about suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's homicide section at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
