Rose Alongi

Rose Alongi, 89, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Gaspar Joe Alongi Jr. of Henderson; one daughter, Josephine Meegan of Tempe, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Betty Barnes

Betty Barnes, 67, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. She was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Henderson. A resident for many years, she was a telephone company manager.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Barnes of Henderson and Gail Lewis of Cleveland.

Burial will be in Ohio. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Dick Beske

Dick Beske, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Chicago. A resident for 12 years, he was in the material handling business, a member of Service Corps of Retired Executives and a recipient of the Bloomington, Minn., Business Person of the Year award.

He is survived by his wife, Clare; two daughters, Kathy Pounds of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Susan Vachon of Kaysville, Utah; two sons, Richard Beske Jr. of Las Vegas and David Beske of Henderson; one sister, Patricia Seiler of Burbank, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave.

Mary Margaret Brown

Mary Margaret Brown, 63, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. She was born June 14, 1939, in Grafton, N.D. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Paljusaj of Henderson and Nichole S. Moralez of Oroville, Wash.; one son, Edward Mitchell; one sister, Carole Hebert of Stephen, Minn., and John O'Keefe of East Grand Forks, Minn.; her ex-husband, Edward Brown of Grand Forks, N.D.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Joseph A. Carbonell

Joseph A. Carbonell, 57, of Las Vegas died Nov. 26 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 14, 1945, in New York. A resident for 10 months, he was a banquet setup person in the gaming industry.

He is survived by three sons, Jessie Carbonell of Lancaster, Calif., and Joseph and Christopher; one sister, Josephine; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Guillermo R. Chavez Jr.

Guillermo R. Chavez Jr., 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 25, 1946, in Los Lunas, N.M. A resident for 13 years, he owned and operated a janitorial service and was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; two sons, Willie and Anthony, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Maria Chavez and Alina Chavez, both of Las Vegas,and Connie Lamoreaux of Albuquerque; his mother, Lola Chavez of Albuquerque; four brothers, Trini and Domingo, both of Albuquerque, Joe of Arlington, Texas, and David of Membres, N.M.; six sisters, Sofie Chavez, Regina Zamora and Lupe Morel, all of Albuquerque,and Helen Montenegro, Lydia Montes and Jennie Barrella, all of Silver City, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Thursday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 220 N. 14 St. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Vivian Coletto

Vivian Coletto, 71, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born March 5, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for two years, she was a retired restaurant manager, belonged to several clubs and was active in the Sun City MacDonald Ranch organization.

She is survived by one daughter, Terry Ann Schenck of Henderson; one son, Thomas Coletto of Las Vegas; one brother, Joe Seminara of Los Altos, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Visitation was scheduled 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary, in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Glenna R. Corso

Glenna R. Corso, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 15, 1911, in Bird City, Kan. A resident for 12 years, she was a dietary supervisor and Sunrise Hospital volunteer who made dolls for critically ill children.

She is survived by one brother, Les Shaffer; one niece, Jean Cazimero; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City at a later date.

James Francis Cox

James Francis Cox, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in South Dakota. A resident for five years, he was a retail salesman and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; one son, James Cox; two daughters, Janet Klepackie and Sharon Stinson; three sisters, Carolyn Killacky, Celine McLellan and Elizabeth Melby; and 11 grandchildren.

James 'Nick' Demos

James "Nick" Demos, 51, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 19, 1951, in Washington. A resident for 15 years, he was a caregiver.

Michael S. Grossi, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1922, in New Jersey. A resident for 17 years, he owned a dry cleaning establishment.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Gasorek of Roselle Park, N.J.; two sons, Gary Grossi of Henderson and John Grossi of Hillsborough, N.J.; five sisters, Virginia Flynn of Doylestown, Pa., Mary Stodolack and Ann Van Blarcum, both of Elizabeth, N.J., Julia Grossi of Union, N.J., and Patty Grossi of Las Vegas; one brother, Joseph Grossi, and his companion, Linda Hamry, both of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Pardamean Victor Hutapea

Pardamean Victor Hutapea, 42, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1959, in North Sumatra, Indonesia. A resident for four years, he was a driver for a courier company.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; one daughter, Melissa Eunike Hutapea, and two sons, Joshua Kevin Hutapea and Spencer Mesakh Hutapea, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Delima Sihombing of Jakarta, Indonesia; one brother, Yos Mandala Hutapea, and three sisters, Minar Hutapea, Valen Hutapea and Lolo Saida Hutapea, all of Indonesia.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. prayer service in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 9:30-2 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Bruce Robert Jensen

Bruce Robert Jensen, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 4, 1939, in California. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired hotel porter.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three brothers, Andrew, Roland and Henry; and one sister, Florine.

Sheldon D. 'Shelly' Kane

Sheldon D. "Shelly" Kane, 57, of Las Vegas died Nov. 27 in Las Vegas. He was born May 11, 1945, in San Diego. A resident for eight years, he was a salesman for an Internet service.

He is survived by his wife, Fran Fox Kane; two daughters, Susan Kane and Jennifer Hacker; his mother, Corinne Katzowitz; and one sister, Donna Kane.

David A. Kraft

David A. Kraft, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 21, 1926, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired casino worker and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dotti; three sons, David O. Kraft, Dennis Kraft and Douglas Kraft; one sister, Phyllis Daniell; and four grandchildren.

Alvin Lee Krauss

Alvin Lee Krauss, 58, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. He was born March 24, 1944, in Fullerton, Calif. A resident of four years, he was in the Merchant Marines, was a Vietnam War Navy veteran and traveled around the world twice.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; one daughter, Lea Ann Krauss, and one son, Alvin Lee Krauss Jr., both of Massachusetts; and one brother, Clifford Krauss of Andover, Minn.

Services will be 11:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Marie Leedom

Marie Leedom, 92, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born May 1, 1910, in Missouri.

Ruby Nell Lipford

Ruby Nell Lipford, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 27, 1931, in Tennessee. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry Stephens, Robert Stephens and Richard Stephens; one daughter, Rita Cullen; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Luther Robert Loy

Luther Robert Loy, 72, of Las Vegas died Nov. 25 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Ohio. A resident for 20 years, he was a Navy veteran and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.

He is survived by one son, Robert Raymond Loy; one daughter, Kathleen Irene Morgan; one brother, James Glenn Loy; and two grandchildren.

Robert Edward Lust, 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 25, 1943, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for 15 years, he was a driver and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky L.; one son, Gary Lust of Minnesota; one stepson, Roger Rodarte of St. Paul; one stepdaughter, Shannon Arocho of Andover, Minn.; one sister, Beverly Cook of Hartman, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Darryl Marshall, 38, of Las Vegas died Nov. 27 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 23, 1964, in California. A resident for 20 years, he was a dental technician.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Martin of Las Vegas; two daughters, Joanette Emery of Las Vegas and Jeanine Robinson of Crestview, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Roger Lee Mooers, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Minnesota. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired maintenance worker for a local hotel.

He is survived by his wife, Christel; one son, Michael; and one grandchild.

Peggy Jo Myers

Peggy Jo Myers, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born April 27, 1947, in Grand Lake, Mich. A resident for 15 years, she was an auditor and an agent for the Internal Revenue Service.

She is survived by one daughter, Christina Verville of Tamarac, Fla.; two brothers, Steve Myers of Midland, Mich., and Stu Myers of Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Rosalyn Mechem of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Nancy Myers of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Elsie Turner Reber

Elsie Turner Reber, 95, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 11, 1907, in Washington City, Utah. A resident for 60 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a church choir member since she was a pre-teen.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Morton and Rosemary Blakey, both of Las Vegas; two sons, James Reber of Las Vegas and Mick Reber of San Padre Island, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Friday in the LDS Meadows Stake Center on Cheyenne Avenue. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Janis M. Schnur

Janis M. Schnur, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Chicago. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane S. Mattson of Las Vegas; one son, Frank H. Schnur of Tucson; one sister, Lou Ann Baker of Chicago; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Foremaster of Sacramento; one son, Dr. Richard W. Scott of Las Vegas; one sister, Marion Royce of Roseville, Calif.; one brother, James Hicks of Huntington Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth W. Torrey

Kenneth W. Torrey, 65, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in New York. A resident for 27 years, he was an automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; one stepson, Gary Hanson of Las Vegas; his mother, Bernedine Foley, and two sisters, Julianne Torrey and Patricianne Eng, all of Florida; and four grandchildren.

Joe Zaher

Joe Zaher, 18, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 20, 1984, in Las Vegas. A graduate of Bishop Gorman High School, he was named Pac 10 freshman of the year as an Oregon State University soccer player.

He is survived by his parents, Maureen and Jack Zaher, one sister, Alle Zaher, and three brothers, Mike Zaher, Zac Zaher and Sean Zaher, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. today at Bishop Gorman High School, 1801 S. Maryland Parkway. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
