Red Rock hikes easy to strenuous

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge. To make required reservations or for more information on the following or other upcoming programs, call 363-1922:

Skull Rock: A four-mile moderate hike Thursday on Dales Trail from Pine Creek to Ice Box and back to look for winter wildlife.

Red Rock Day Camp: An outdoor classroom at Red Rock Canyon to learn about the great horned owl, Friday.

Mystery March: A five-mile strenuous hike Saturday.

Coyote Kids: A Red Rock Springs adventure to search out the "hidden cave" and explore nature's creation, Saturday.

Feeling Loopy II: a 2 1/2 mile easy to moderate hike to explore what is on top of the rocks, Sunday.

The Backside: A two-mile moderate hike to the backside of the Calico Hills and beyond to a view overlooking Red Springs, Monday.

Swing for Life charity golf planned

US Home will hold its first Swing for Life charity golf tournament and dinner, a two-day event this weekend to benefit St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Boulder City.

The benefit will begin Saturday at Paris Las Vegas with a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner with live auction and entertainment.

Sunday's 18-hole golf tournament will be held at Bear's Best Golf Course, 11111 W. Flamingo Road. An awards luncheon follows in the Bear's Best clubhouse.

Church to host St. Nicholas Festival

Our Lady of Wisdom Byzantine Catholic Church, 2120 Lindell Road, is hosting the St. Nicholas Festival to 8 p.m. today.

The event will feature a pageant, food, games, entertainment and appearance of St. Nicholas, with pictures available. Christmas trees will be available for purchase; cake and coffee and baked goods will be for sale.

Children may bring an empty shoe to be filled with candy.

School will hold first craft fair

Neil Twitchell Elementary School will hold its first craft festival from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the school, 2060 Desert Shadow Trails, Henderson.

All tables are $25 per vendor. If you are interested in reserving a table to show your craft, call 592-3797 or send a fax to 897-4702.

The fax should contain a contact name and number along with a brief description of the product/craft you wish to sell.

Gaming's Bayley to be honored

Women of Diversity Productions will host a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Elks Lodge, 4100 W. Charleston Blvd., to honor Judy Bayley, owner of the old Hacienda hotel, and pioneer woman in the gaming industry.

The evening's event will include a premier screening of the video documentary "Judy Bayley: First Lady of Gambling and First Lady of Charity."
