No charges in nightclub shooting
Charges won't be filed against a nightclub security guard in the August shooting death of former UNLV football player Amar Brisco, Metro Police homicide Sgt. Rocky Alby said Monday.
District Attorney Randall Weed said charges against the security guard were never formally submitted to the district attorney's office.
The shooting came after a fight over a valet parking spot in front of the Glo @ The Hop nightclub, east of the Strip.
The three guards involved told police Brisco rammed his Chevrolet sedan into the guard and the guard shot Brisco through the windshield. They said the shooting was justified.
Two robbery suspects arrested
Two men wanted in the robbery of a Green Valley jewelry store were arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Henderson Police said.
Jewelry taken during the Henderson robbery was found on the suspects at the time of their arrest, Henderson Police spokesman Shane Lewis said.
Alfred Maurice Blackwell, 23, and Erick Marquis Brown, 29, were charged with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and two counts of first-degree kidnapping in connection with the Nov. 23 robbery of the Las Vegas Manufacturing Jewelers store at 2829 N. Green Valley Parkway.
They were also being held on separate charges in California. The pair will face charges in California before extradition to Nevada, Lewis said.
During the jewelry store robbery, two elderly workers were beaten.
Woman dies after being shot in face
A woman who was shot Sunday in an apartment in the 3600 block of Stober Boulevard died of her injuries Monday morning at University Medical Center, Metro Police said.
The Clark County coroner's office identified the woman as 20-year-old Mary S. Amina of Las Vegas.
Amina was shot about 1 a.m. Sunday after two men entered her apartment through an unlocked door. Police said the intruders, who were acquaintances of Amina, were looking for stolen property in the apartment.
Amina was shot in the face. A man who was also in the apartment was shot in the leg and suffered minor injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 385-5555 or the homicide section at 229-3521.
