Letter: Good example for Las Vegas
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 | 9:05 a.m.
Amen to the Sun's Nov. 26 editorial on downtown Las Vegas: "Looks like it's hustle, not bustle."
Don't look for answers at City Hall. To get from A to B one has to walk around fiascoes of the city's past. No use repeating them.
A good example of an old town's revival is only a one-hour flight from McCarran International Airport. It is an infrastructure of old, new, small and super blended with an ambiance of older homes and new apartments. It's near banks, post offices and a large library with books.
It's nestled between NBC, Disney Studios, the airport and a green mountain backdrop. Comedians in the olden days use to make fun of it and called it beautiful downtown Burbank. It not only survived, it also gave itself a new life.
The hustle and bustle locally makes Las Vegas downtown look like skid row.
