Letter: Feds must take over airlines, health care

Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 | 9:04 a.m.

The time has come for the federal government to take over the airline industry. We will be at war with terrorism for many years to come -- we can't be bailing out this industry forever.

We also have to go to a socialistic medical system. I for one and many of the people I know are fed up with the high cost of medicine and the constant meddling of insurance companies with our health care system.

One of the ladies that lives in my senior apartment complex has relatives who live in England. The British people are totally astounded by the way our medical industry is handled. They have had socialized medicine for many years and swear by it.

It's a disgrace to have thousands of American citizens without health care. We expect this to happen in second-rate countries, not in this country.

Wake up America, it's time those popularity contest winners in Washington start doing the right thing.
