Doors concert comes unhinged
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 | 8:19 a.m.
After waiting 30 years to witness the return of the Doors, Las Vegans will have to wait five weeks longer than expected.
The Doors postponed Sunday's scheduled show at Rain in the Desert at the Palms after drummer Stewart Copeland broke an arm while mountain biking near his home over the weekend. The show will be made up on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. at Rain.
Copeland, formerly of the Police, will join original Doors members Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger and Cult vocalist Ian Astbury for a set of live dates next year.
The Las Vegas show was to kick off the Doors' touring schedule, and Dec. 8 was selected as the date because it would have been Jim Morrison's 59th birthday. The band played a pair of one-off concerts earlier this year.
Tickets for this Sunday will be honored at the rescheduled show, or refunds can be obtained at the original point of purchase. Tickets are still available for $100 and $150 at the Palms' box office, at Tickemaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 474-4000.
