Letter: Nevada fails to protect child
Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 | 9:24 a.m.
After reading Sandy Thompson's final column, I was sick.
The doctor's son was literally kidnapped by overzealous officials in California while they were on a weekend trip to Los Angeles.
If Nevada investigated the case and found that all allegations of abuse were false, Nevada had an obligation to take jurisdiction of this case and return the child to his father in Las Vegas. The column stated that Clark County Family Court refused to take jurisdiction over the case. Why not? Too lazy to do the right thing?
Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa has failed to uphold her responsibilities to protect all the citizens of Nevada, especially those children who cannot speak for themselves. What is she doing now to protect this child, who is a Nevada resident being held captive in California?
The media has the power to expose this grave injustice and dishonest court judge in California.
We talk about doing what is best for the child. Sandy Thompson was correct. What is Nevada doing now to protect and bring home this innocent child?
