Las Vegas to open 50th park Saturday
Las Vegas is opening its 50th park -- Pioneer Park -- 9 a.m. Saturday on Braswell Drive between Pioneer and Tenaya ways.
The 17-acre park features playgrounds, picnic areas, a jogging track, basketball and horseshoe courts, bocce ball and plenty of open space.
It brings the amount of park space in the city to 790 acres. The city plans to add another seven parks and 200 acres in the next 18 months.
Building healthy relationships
MountainView Hospital and Family to Family Connection will offer the free community education program "Building Healthy Relationships" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 3100 N. Tenaya Way.
