Spoonhour signs one-year extension

UNLV men's basketball coach Charlie Spoonhour, who led the Rebels to a 21-11 record and postseason appearance last season, has received a one-year contract extension, the school said Wednesday.

Spoonhour, who is entering his second year of a three-year deal, is signed through the 2004-05 season.

"We were very pleased with Charlie's first season here," said athletic director John Robinson. "We are excited to extend his contract and by doing so are able to provide more stability for our returning players and enhance recruiting."

Spoonhour's base salary will be $140,400 in 2002-03 and the following year. His base salary for the 2004-05 season will be worked out after the previous season.
