Carrier plans to trim LV flights

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 | 11:27 a.m.

Japan Airlines will cut two of its five weekly round-trip flights between Tokyo and Las Vegas in November, according to airline flight schedules listed on the Internet.

The company has previously cited a weakened Japanese economy and reduced demand for flights to the United States for reducing flights as part of a large seasonal cutback that will run through March.

The airline, Asia's largest, currently offers nonstop service on Boeing 747 jumbo jets between Tokyo and Las Vegas and a flight with a stop in Los Angeles for the return. It operates daily except Mondays and Thursdays.

Under the new schedule posted in travel agency computer systems, flights would operate Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
