Officers involved in shooting ID'd

The names of three Metro Police narcotics detectives who shot and killed a man police say tried to run over one of the detectives last week were released Monday.

The detectives are Anthony Guy, 31, Ryan Kraft, 27, and Harold Twigg, 32.

They are on paid leave pending the outcome of a coroner's inquest, which has yet to be scheduled, into the shooting death of Rayburn Bryant, 39, of Las Vegas.

Police said detectives were serving a search warrant at an apartment in the 2300 block of Tam Drive, near Industrial Road and Sahara Avenue, about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, when they heard a gunshot and saw Bryant walking toward the apartment.

When the detectives called to him, police said, Bryant ran to a car and tried to flee. Police allege Bryant backed out of a parking space and hit Kraft, who was struck again when he stood in front of the car and ordered Bryant to stop.

All three detectives fired their weapons. Bryant was taken to University Medical Center, where he died. Kraft was treated for his injuries.

Nightclub owner shot to death

A 38-year-old nightclub owner was shot to death early Monday as he got out of his truck near his home.

Pascual Gomez was found dead near his truck by Metro Police officers who were called to the 1400 block of Hellen Bell Drive, near Monroe Avenue and Lamb Boulevard, about 3 a.m. Monday, Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro's homicide unit said.

Police said Gomez owed a nightclub in the area of Stewart and Eastern avenues and one in North Las Vegas on East Lake Mead Boulevard.

Detectives do not know if the slaying had anything to do with the clubs.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
