Letter: Mexico’s Fox is hypocritical with demands

So President Vicente Fox of Mexico will not visit our country because we didn't treat a drug smuggler and cop killer the way Mexico thinks we should! Well, isn't that typical. How often other countries try and dictate our justice system and insist that we punish their citizens as they say. So Mexico doesn't have a death penalty. I, for one, would like to bet Americans in their prisons wish they did after experiencing their idea of incarceration.
Well, hear this. There is not a country more merciful than this one, and we certainly have every right to set a punishment on anyone who thinks they can come here and drag their drugs and guns in with them. If they want to assert themselves outside the law, let them stay in their own country and do it. Then they will get a "just" sentence.
Now, if Mexico thinks it has the right to dictate fair treatment of its criminals in this country, why can't we then dictate how our citizens should be treated in its country. Starting with decent beds, food and quick and just sentencing. And after sentencing they should make certain our citizen has access to decent treatment, TVs, phones, clean clothes, showers and recreation.
When any foreign country is willing to duplicate the treatment of our citizens in its prisons then maybe ... just maybe ... it can tell us how to sentence theirs.
