Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 | 9:48 a.m.

UNLV women's track and field/cross country coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson has announced the hiring of Fred Jones and Angie Bestwick as assistant coaches.

For more than three decades, Jones has developed world-class athletes and is well known for his coaching expertise within the track and field community. He has trained and produced 17 Olympians and more than 70 men's and women's U.S. National Team members.

Ex-Rebel standout Bestwick's (maiden name Fortner) specialty will be with the distance runners. She became the first student-athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA cross country championships in 1999. She previously served as a volunteer coach with the program.
