Republican Jon Porter has more cash left for his campaign for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District seat than his Democratic opponent, Dario Herrera.
While Herrera has raised slightly more money, he has also spent more, leaving him with $782,295 in the bank compared to Porter's $829,955, according to pre-primary reports filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission.
Porter, a former state senator, has raised $1,331,394 for the race, slightly less than Herrera's $1,385,708.
Herrera, chairman of the Clark County Commission, has spent $606,074 on campaign expenses compared to Porter's $490,611.
Independent candidate Pete O'Neil has $80 remaining after raising just over $8,000 for the race.
In Nevada's 1st Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Shelley Berkley continues on a record fund-raising pace. Berkley, D-Nev., has $911,021 remaining after raising $1.6 million for her re-election bid.
Republican Lynette Boggs McDonald, a Las Vegas councilwoman, has slightly more than one-third of Berkley's total with $349,034 cash on hand. Boggs McDonald has raised $778,245 for the race.
Boggs McDonald received $113,000 from political action committees, including a large amount from the PAC of conservative television host Alan Keyes, a former presidential candidate.
The pre-election reports are due 12 days before the Sept. 3 primary and 12 days before the Nov. 5 general election.
Boggs McDonald and Porter each face Republican challenges in the primary and Herrera has one Democratic challenger.
