It's only August, but some of golf's finest already have committed to play in the Invensys Classic Oct. 7-13.
Six of the top nine finishers from last week's PGA Championship are entered in Las Vegas' PGA stop.
Champion Rich Beem, former UNLV All-American Chris Riley, Justin Leonard, Fred Funk, Mark Calcavecchia and three-time Las Vegas champion Jim Furyk will be here. Riley had his best career finish at a major, finishing third at the PGA last weekend.
As of Tuesday night, 11 of the top 30 on the money list and 13 of the top 50 in the world rankings are in the field.
"The field is starting to shape up nicely," tournament manager Charlie Baron said. "At this stage to have as many top players as we've got committed and others who have talked to us about coming, we're going to have a very strong field."
