The Democratic Leadership Council, or so-called "New Democrats," seems determined to throw the working class, low-income and elderly voters who are the core of the Democratic Party overboard in an attempt to steal high-income voters away from the GOP. This is an exercise in futility as far as I am concerned. As a wise old Democrat once said, "If people want a Republican, they will vote for the real one, not a warmed-over one calling himself a Democrat!
In my opinion, the secret to Democratic success is in getting its base voters out to the polls and you don't do that sounding like a Republican. Go, Al, Go!
By the way, Gore really won the election, anyway.
