Letter: Joe manifested a resilient spirit
Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 | 9:27 a.m.
As a first-class act on the Las Vegas scene, this leprechaun, a reincarnated St. Patrick, was always willing to give time and talent to charitable causes.
In a fluke of fate I mentored him with my own young, enthusiastic, wet-behind-the-ears, newly ordained existential philosophy and radical theology, which somehow fit his experiential, no-nonsense lifestyle.
An incredible listener and doctor of the human spirit, he was a rare polished soul emersed in a harsh, greedy environment. With fathomless depth of knowledge and an impenetrable vivacious energy, Joe met, greeted and defeated life's challenges, and we all reaped valuable lessons from his indomitable human spirit.
If we are spiritual in the process of becoming human, then Joe manifested and radiated that resilient spirit best. While a star has vanished from the Las Vegas Strip, Joe Delaney will continue to shine in our hearts, and our lives are brighter for it!
