Michelle Darquea is seeking to unseat Family Court Judge Nicholas Del Vecchio.

Del Vecchio was elected, along with Moss, in 2000 to one of three seats added to Family Court. Prior to that he was an attorney practicing primarily in family law. He also served as a Nye County district attorney, conflicts attorney for the Clark County district attorney's family support division and a court-appointed attorney for indigent clients.

He conducts night court and performs 24-hour-a-day telephonic fax duty for Temporary Protective Orders in domestic violence matters.

Del Vecchio is a member of the Domestic Violence Task Force and the Civil Contempt Enforcement Committee. If re-elected, he said, he will continue to be committed to working hard and to making informed decisions in the best interest of both parties.

An attorney for more than eight years, Darquea was a prosecutor in the Nassau County, N.Y., family court before moving to Nevada three years ago. A deputy attorney general, she handles civil rights cases for the state. She said she has been involved in more than 50 bench trials.

Darquea also works as a pro bono attorney for Clark County Legal Services in Family Court matters. She said her strengths are "fairness and the ability to be unbiased."
