Assembly District 34

Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 | 7:45 a.m.

There will be no primary for newly created Assembly District 34, and the lone Democrat and Republican candidates will move on to the November general election for the seat representing part of northwest Las Vegas.

Republican Geny Del Rosario and Democrat William Horne are the candidates.

Del Rosario, 45, a travel agency owner, has been an education activist in recent years. Her campaign is focusing on improving education and health care and keeping taxes in line.

She has served on several local boards including a Las Vegas master plan steering committee and has done volunteer work for several nonprofit organizations including the American Cancer Society and Opportunity Village.

Horne, 40, a law clerk, has worked for 15 years in the airline industry, mediating disputes between management and the work force.

He is running on a platform that calls for seniors getting access to affordable prescription drugs, women getting access to quality prenatal care and overall affordable medical care for everyone.

Horne also is addressing Southern Nevada's rapid growth.
