Neither party has a primary in the race to replace John Lee in Assembly District 3.
The general election will feature Democrat Peggy Pierce, 48, a Culinary Union community liaison; Republican Joe Wheeler, 42, editor and publisher of The Construction Zone and Independent American candidate Harold Sims.
Pierce said she is interested in stabilizing Nevada's revenue sources; broadening the tax base and improving the schools. Wheeler said he wants to solve the problems with the state's tax structure and the insurance crises affecting construction liability, medical malpractice and workers' compensation.
Sims did not respond to requests for information.
