Assembly District 23

Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 | 8:35 a.m.

Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, D-Henderson, is unopposed in the primary and will go through to the general election, where his name will be the only one on the ballot for District 23. Nevada law requires a single vote cast in his favor for him to win office.

Kelwin J. Perkins, who had registered to run against Richard Perkins, withdrew his candidacy and his name will not appear on the November ballot.

Richard Perkins, 40, a deputy chief of the Henderson Police Department, will be serving his sixth term in the Assembly. He has served as majority leader twice.

He plans to do more work in the funding of K-12 education.
