Incumbent Merle Berman faces a primary challenge from Republican Dr. Garn Mabey in District 2.
Berman, 56, a real estate developer first elected in 1997, is committed to resolving the malpractice crisis.
Mabey, 44, is an obstetrician/gynecologist and past president of the Clark County OB/GYN Society.
He supports malpractice insurance reform, liability reform for nonmedical professions, greater accountability in education and no state income taxes.
The winner of the GOP primary faces Independent American candidate Brian Barnes. Barnes did not respond to requests for information.
