John Oceguera faces no challenges in the Democratic primary in his bid for a second term. However, he will face Republican Rich Strickland in the general election.

Oceguera, 34, is a North Las Vegas Fire Department captain currently completing studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Boyd School of Law.

His platform focuses on supporting working families, public safety and law enforcement, improving schools and offering career development and retraining programs.

Strickland did not respond to requests for information.
