Hawaii-bound flight cut

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 | 11:04 a.m.

One of Aloha Airlines' three daily one-stop round-trip flights between Las Vegas and Honolulu has been eliminated.

Aloha, which began its Hawaii service from Las Vegas in February 2001, eliminated one of its two flights between McCarran International Airport and Oakland, Calif., last month.

A firm spokesman said the flight was dropped when Honolulu-based Aloha inaugurated one-stop service to Hawaii from Phoenix and one of the airline's Boeing 737 jets was moved to that route.

In addition, Aloha changed the route of its other Hawaii-bound flight, stopping in Burbank, Calif., instead of Orange County. Spokesman Stu Glauberman said demand to and from Las Vegas was soft in the first half of 2002, resulting in the changes.
