Letter: Take oil fields back from Saudi Arabia
Monday, Aug. 12, 2002 | 8:53 a.m.
The Rand Corp. has stated unequivocally that Saudi Arabia is the enemy of the USA.
Rand has said that Saudi Arabia supports our enemies, attacks our allies (Israel), and is a "kernel of evil."
Gee, I can't understand why it took so long for someone to figure this out. Didn't Sept. 11 wake anyone up? Didn't the Saudi telethon, which raised millions for terrorism, wake anyone up? Didn't anyone notice that Osama bin Laden was a Saudi Arabian?
Yes, the Saudis are active at every level of the terrorist chain. They plan terrorism, they fund terrorism, they assist terrorists, and they put their own people into the business of being terrorists. The Saudis sponsor extremism at every level. Saudi Arabia, with a population of about 34 million people, is at the forefront of terrorism. This is reality.
Rand Corp. says that the U.S. ought to give Saudi Arabia an ultimatum to stop backing terrorists or face seizure of its oil fields and its financial assets invested in the United States. Doesn't anyone remember that those oil fields were developed and owned originally by U.S. oil companies? Doesn't anyone remember that Saudi Arabia stole those oil fields from our companies?
Instead of giving out ultimatums, the U.S. ought to be taking back those oil fields, stabilizing world oil prices, and kicking out the corrupt, extremist regime that runs Arabia. Maybe then we can have peace in the Middle East.
