MountainView lab receives accreditation

The Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists recently voted to grant MountainView Hospital's laboratory accreditation after an on-site inspection.

MountainView will be one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program began in the early 1960s. Inspectors examine the laboratory's record and quality control, as well as the education and qualifications of the staff, the adequacy of the facilities, the equipment, laboratory safety and management.

The CAP is a medical society serving nearly 16,000 physician members of the laboratory community nationwide, making it the world's largest association composed exclusively of pathologists.
