A look at some recent surgeries in which doctors separated twins joined at the head:

- 1993, two boys separated in South Africa. One dies.

- 1995, two girls separated in Toronto. One dies.

- 1996, Doris and Bessy Gonzales from Honduras successfully separated in Utah.

- 1997, Zambian girls successfully separated in South Africa.

- 2000, Taylah and Monique Armstrong successfully separated in Australia.

- 2001, Ganga and Jamuna Shrestha from Nepal separated in Singapore. Both girls survive.

- 2001, Bethany and Alyssa Nolan undergo separation surgery in Australia. Only Alyssa survives.

- 2002, Maria Teresa and Maria de Jesus Quiej Alvarez from Guatemala both survive the immediate aftermath of a separation performed in Los Angeles.
