Promotion system improved

Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 | 10:53 a.m.

Slot machine accounting software maker Acres Gaming Inc. expects to roll out a large touch screen display that can guide slot players through casino promotions, loyalty programs and so called "cashless" gaming transactions with the help of interactive video screens and digital voice prompts.

The screen is an upgraded version of smaller displays already in use at some casinos, the Las Vegas-based company said.

Casinos can use the screens to customize messages sent to players based on how much they gamble, and can also use the technology to promote restaurants, entertainment and special events.

The Sahara hotel-casino in Las Vegas and the Lakeside Inn and Casino in South Lake Tahoe are scheduled to be the first venues to implement the screens, called NexGen Display, throughout their casinos.

The screens coincide with Acres software that allows casinos to keep track of bonuses accumulated by slot players, the company said.
