Three are killed in weekend accidents

Three people were killed and another injured in four separate accidents over the weekend, Metro Police said.
A 78-year-old man trying to cross the street at Rainbow Boulevard and Desert Inn Road about 10:15 a.m. Sunday was struck and killed, Metro Police said.
Robert J. Michel was attempting to cross Rainbow against a red signal when he was hit, witnesses and Metro Police said. The Las Vegas resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver Anni Labansat of Las Vegas was taken to Summerlin Hospital where she was treated and released, officers said. It appears pedestrian error caused the accident, investigating officers said.
About 9 a.m. Sunday a Mercury Sable traveling northbound on Stephanie Street north of Construction Avenue crossed the road, crashed through a chain link fence, striking a tree.
The vehicle then struck a dirt berm and rolled over onto the passenger side. An emergency medical crew found the driver of the car, Pearl Alvarez, 43, dead at the scene.
About 7:15 a.m. Saturday a motorist traveling eastbound on Coral Shores Drive went up onto the sidewalk, striking Ram Masnotra, 80, of Las Vegas.
Masnotra struck the windshield of a small white sedan with square tail lights, witnesses said. The driver fled the scene.
Masnotra was taken to University Medical Center where he died.
Two motorcyclists were traveling north at a high rate of speed on Lamb Boulevard near Harmon Avenue about 3:20 p.m. Friday. Dallas Locklear, 18, braked and his motorcycle was thrown on its side.
The second motorcyclist struck Locklear and was also thrown, suffering minor injuries.
The second motorcyclist ran from the scene and did not offer aid to Locklear, police said.
Locklear remains in critical condition at UMC.
Anyone with information about either suspect driver is asked to call police at 229-3538 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
