Widad J. Abdullah

Widad J. Abdullah, 68, of Las Vegas died July 1 in a local hospital. A resident for many years, he was born Nov. 23, 1933.

Burial was scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Virginia "Ginger" Benjamin

Virginia "Ginger" Benjamin, 73, of Las Vegas died July 24 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Bridgeport, Conn. A resident for 31 years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by three sons, Michael Kelly of Milford, Conn., Raymond Kelly of Monroe, Conn., and Robert Kelly of Seymour, Conn.; one daughter, Kathleen Kelly of Naugatauk, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Edward Simmon Buck

Edward Simmon Buck, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Minnesota. A resident for 30 years, he was a casino porter and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Scott Buck of Seattle; one brother, Willard Buck of Colorado; four sisters, Mary Lukas of Las Vegas, Edna Lewis of Colorado, Katie Sweetland of Iowa and Marie Dukulia of Henderson; and four grandchildren.

Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive.

Florence P. Carmichael

Florence P. Carmichael, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born April 18, 1916 in Pennsylvania. A resident for 18 years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Gotchy of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 6:30-8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Ervin L. Chappell

Ervin L. Chappell, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 8, 1934 in Sultan, Wash. A resident for 11 years, he was a motel manager and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Ricky Chappell of Plain, Wash., and Thomas Chappell of Monroe, Wash.; three daughters, Pamela Rhodes of Arlington, Wash., and Kathy Johns and Gloria Ness, both of Granite Falls, Wash.; one brother, James Chappell of Darrington, Wash.; one sister, Maureen Darrow of Everett, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private. Memorial services will be held in Washington at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive.

Anna Dorman

Anna Dorman, 95, of Henderson died Thursday in a local care center. She was born May 18, 1907, in Minnesota. A resident for 29 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by one daughter, Veronica.

Services are pending. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Beatriz A. Francisco

Beatriz A. Francisco, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 29, 1930 in Cotabato, Philippines. A resident for six months, she was a retired nurse.

She is survived by six daughters, Maribeth Barin of Bloomingdale, Ill., Cynthia Romero of Schaumburg, Ill., Maruja Francisco of Daly City, Calif., Rowena Abad of Chicago, and Rosario Francisco and Nonie Monteclaro, both of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 3-7 p.m. today. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Silvia B. Gonzalez

Silvia B. Gonzalez, 28, of Las Vegas died June 19, in a local hospital. She was born March 7, 1974 in El Salvador. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a hotel maid.

She is survived by one son, Kevin Gonzalez of Las Vegas; her mother, Lidia Gonzalez of El Salvador; two brothers, Cesar Gonzalez of Las Vegas and Jaime Cesar of El Salvador.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the LDS Mesa Vista Ward chapel, 5100 Sun Valley Drive. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Suzanne Emily Hale

Suzanne Emily Hale, 50, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 23, 1952, in Flushing, Mich. A resident for eight years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; three daughters, Sheila Jacques of Alturas, Calif., and Vanessa Hale and Lara Hale, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, Clair Hunt of Templeton, Calif., Loren Hunt of Tustin, Calif., Theodore Hunt of Shandon, Calif., and Phillip Hunt of Fallbrook, Calif.; three sisters, Barbara Nickles of Santa Ana, Calif., Audrey Pacheco of Merced, Calif., and Dolores Cisneros of Hesperia, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 7811 Vegas Drive. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Robert Horn

Robert Horn, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born in Pontiac, Mich. He was a thrift store operator and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor A.; two sons, Jeffrey Ernest Horn and George Steven Mihalovich, and two daughters, Kimberly Sue Horn and Andrea Lynn Kerby, all of Traverse City Mich.; and his mother, C. Nadyne Horn of Arizona.

Services are private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson is handling the arrangements.

Lillian Julia Klecki

Lillian Julia Klecki, 80, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 10, 1921 in Detroit. A resident for many years, she was a receptionist.

She is survived by one son, Peter Klecki; and one daughter, Lillian Wood; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Joan Marie Littlefield

Joan Marie Littlefield, 64, of Las Vegas died July 23, in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1937 in Philadelphia. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired drugstore cashier.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Staub of San Francisco and John A. Littlefield; one daughter, Renee Martinez-Johnson of Las Vegas; and her companion, Lawrence Akers of Las Vegas.

Private arrangements are being handled by Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd.

James William Mask

James William Mask, 92, of Scappoose, Ore., died July 26 in Scappoose. He was born in 1909 in Coleman, Texas. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a retired bartender and entertainer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one son; and one sister.

A memorial service will be in Grace and Peace Fellowship in Scappoose.

Isabel W. McDermott

Isabel W. McDermott, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 18, 1907, in Wyoming, Pa. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker, member of the Leter Kenny Officers Club and a Red Cross volunteer.

She is survived by one daughter, Marian Crist of Las Vegas; one son, John McDermott of Chambersburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be private. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy McInerney

Dorothy McInerney, 77, of Las Vegas died July 26 in a local care center. She was born July 26, 1925, in New Jersey. A resident for four years, she was a saleswoman.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Meconi of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lenora E. Murphy

Lenora E. Murphy, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 8, 1932, in Aberdeen, Miss. A resident for 16 years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Murphy and Michael Murphy, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Moses Tabb of Dolan Springs, Ariz., Bishop Simon S. Tabb of South Bend, Ind., and Sebastian Tabb, St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in American Burial and Cremation. Burial is pending.

David Pahinui Jr.

David Pahinui Jr., 80, of Las Vegas died July 26, in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 16, 1921 in Honolulu. A resident of eight years, he was a stevedore.

He is survived by his wife, Abigail K.; five sons, Joseph of Seattle, Alfred K. of Honolulu, David B.K. of California, Benjamen K. of Waimanalo, Hawaii, Dawne A. of Waianane, Hawaii; three daughters, Lei Makanani of Waimanalo, Jose U. of Las Vegas, and Cecelia W.A. of Maui; two brothers, Able Pahinui and Arnold Pahinui, both of Waianane; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. with 6 p.m. services Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Robert William Patterson

Robert William Patterson, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born May 6, 1931 in New Madrid, Mo. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired professor, an accountant, a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Patricia Dawson of Decatur, Ill., and LaVerne Patterson of Washington, D.C.; and two sisters, Hattie Ivory of Chicago and Emma Minner of St. Louis.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Sunrise Mt.United Methodist Church, 2075 N. Lamb Blvd.

Donnie Gene Porter

Donnie Gene Porter, 59, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 22, 1943 in Joplin, Mo. A resident of 30 years, she was a singer.

She is survived by two sons, Philip Porter of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rick Porter of Boston; two daughters, Wendy Kelly and Tina Le Blanc, both of Conway, N.H.; and 12 grandchildren.

John Franklin Quarnstrom

John Franklin Quarnstrom, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 10, 1943 in California. A resident for four years, he was a dental equipment manager and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by one son, David Quarnstrom of Las Vegas; three brothers, Bob Quarnstrom of Bradbury, Calif., Kenny Quarnstrom of Long Beach, Calif., and Eric Quarnstrom of Las Vegas; three sisters, Lisa Miranda of Las Vegas, Lori Thom of Boise, Idaho, and Tina Lovelace of Orlando, Fla.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Red Rock. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive.

Brian Joseph Sambell

Brian Joseph Sambell, 45, of Henderson died July 23, in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 26, 1957, in Chicago. A resident for 13 months, he was an electronics engineer and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his father, Anthony Sambell; his mother, Joann Sambell; and one brother Darren Sambell of California.

Pearl Sisco

Pearl Sisco, 69, of Henderson died July 14. She was born Jan. 9, 1933 in Illinois.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Eskew and Wanda Jordon, both of Missouri.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Jennings, Mo. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling the arrangements.

Jerry C. Smith

Jerry C. Smith, 69, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born April 8, 1933 in Walters, Okla. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired gaming manager.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta; one daughter, Dianne Smith of Las Vegas; one brother, Donald D. Smith of Fairview, Ore.; and one sister, Grace Burton of Lindsay, Okla.

Rhonda G. Sykes

Rhonda G. Sykes, 45, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Ohio. A resident for eight years, she was a medical technologist.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Alden Bonine; her father, John Sykes; and her mother, Earlene Sykes.

Ottie Wade

Ottie Wade, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1916 in Arkansas. A resident for 35 years, she was a manicurist.

She is survived by one niece, Andi Amos of Glasgow, Ky.

Visitation will be 3:30 p.m. until a 4 p.m. service Saturday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tenn.

Charles Louis West

Charles Louis West, 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 18, 1937 in Cleveland. A resident of 43 years, he was a general contractor and roofer and a member of Las Vegas Radio Control Flying Club.

He is survived by his companion, Leora Kutcher; one son, John R. West of Las Vegas; two daughters, Tiffany R. West of Las Vegas, and Tammy L. West of San Diego; mother of children, Dixie Record of Las Vegas; one brother, Bobby West; and one sister, Janice Swartz; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jerry Lee White

Jerry Lee White, 49, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1952, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a graphic arts supervisor for Creel Printing.

He is survived by two daughters, Maya Sheppard and Chrissy White, and his father, Luther White Sr., all of Las Vegas; four brothers, Sammy Mosby of Atlanta and Luther White Jr., Lee White and Terry White, all of Las Vegas; four sisters, Louvenia Cole of Palmdale, Calif., and Mary McGhee, Lubertha Lacey, Helen Senter and Sonji McIver, all of Las Vegas; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Saturday at Portals to Glory, Church of God in Christ, 2301 Comstock Drive, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Edward F. Veatch

Edward F. Veatch, 45, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1956, in Mineola, N.Y. A resident for many years, he was a retired Henderson Police officer and past president of the Henderson Police Officers Association.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Veatch, and his father, Glenn Veatch, both of Henderson; and two sisters, Catherine Corwin of Gilbert, Ariz., and Suzanne Wright.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Helen Guinivere Zimmerman

Helen Guinivere Zimmerman, 91, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born March 13, 1911, in Ford, Kan. A resident for seven years, she was a piano teacher.

She is survived by one son, Chester Zimmerman of Bucklin, Kan.; one daughter, Onnallee Mason of N. Hollywood, Calif.; four brothers, Don Steele of Oklahoma, Gayle Steele of California, Dale Steele of Kansas, and Gary Steele of Missouri; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
