Arrests to benefit March of Dimes

The Henderson Jail and Bail project is expecting to "arrest" more than 100 area business owners Tuesday in a benefit for the March of Dimes.

These "prisoners" will be escorted from their place of business by volunteers from Nellis Air Force Base and taken to the mock jail at Carrabba's Italian Grill, 10160 S. Eastern Ave.

Prisoners will be arraigned before a volunteer judge and sentenced to spend one hour in "jail" to help raise bail in the form of contributions to the March of Dimes for Nevada's babies.

Eric and Jane Post from "Marriage Can Be Murder," will be the celebrity judges from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Regis University open house set

Regis University will hold an open house from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at its campus, 1401 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 100.

All application fees will be waived during the event ($50 for undergraduates and $76 for graduates).

Student loan information, admissions information and additional student advisory information will be available throughout the event, which will feature a free breakfast.

Faculty and administrative representatives will also be on hand. For more information, call 990-0375 or visit www.regis.edu.

Library to have temporary home

Henderson's Lydia Malcom Library will be sharing space with the Nevada State Library and Archives Talking Books Program, Monday through Aug. 18, when remodeling will be completed to make room for the new program that was formerly housed in the Clark County Library.

Although the library space at Malcolm Library will be smaller, library patrons will still have access to bestsellers, book cassettes popular nonfiction and large print books.
