The UNLV men's golf team fired an even-par 288 in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championship Monday to lead the eight-team field in Sunriver, Ore. The Rebels have a three-stroke edge over Brigham Young after receiving solid play throughout the lineup and are five strokes ahead of San Diego State, in fifth place.
The Aztecs' Mark Warman was the first-round individual leader, shooting a 68 on the par-72 Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort. UNLV senior Clark Corbett was just three shots behind Warman and was tied for third after a one-under 71.
UNLV freshmen Ryan Moore and J.C. Deacon also ranked in the top 10, tying for fifth after par rounds. Brandon Askew's 73 rounded out UNLV's first-round scoring and landed him in a tie for 12th place, while Brien Davis was in a tie for 23rd after shooting 75.
