Letter: Resident tired of living in fear
Monday, April 29, 2002 | 8:55 a.m.
I am writing this letter to express my disappointment in our councilman, Gary Reese of Ward 3. I went to him years ago complaining about Davis Nursery's holding tank for trees and palms.
I have lived in this house for 35 years and never had a problem with scorpions, until the nursery moved in. We had a meeting with the planning commission -- they gave the nursery three months to move. When it went in front of the City Council, Mr. Reese gave them a year.
In February I got stung four times in my bed, and was hospitalized four days, two of them in intensive care. I have health insurance, but it does not cover all my medical bills. This is not the first time I got stung. A lot of the people in my block also have gotten stung.
The nursery also has a school and senior-citizen housing nearby. I would like to know if Councilman Gary Reese would like to buy my house. I'm tired of living in fear of getting stung again. I do have Morgan Pest Control; nothing seems to help.
