UNLV’s Frohlich given top award at banquet

Senior forward Linda Frohlich, recently selected in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty after winning her third consecutive Mountain West Conference Player of the Year Award, took home the Best All-Around Player Award at the 2002 Lady Rebels Awards Reception on Thursday night at Planet Hollywood.

The 6-2 Frohlich, who broke school career records for both scoring and rebounding, averaged 20.5 points and 10.4 rebounds while helping lead UNLV to a 23-8 record and its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1994.

Other award winners included junior guard Constance Jinks (Best Offensive Player), sophomore center Padra Strong (Most Improved Player), junior point guard Julia Gray (Best Defensive Player), junior guard Talisha Mitchell (Hustle Award), sophomore center Petra Glaser (Versatility Award) and freshman forward Sherry McCracklin (Best Rebounder). Seniors Erin Johansson and Kinesha Davis shared the Sixth Woman Award.
