Mascaras appears
In observance of Dia de Los Ninos/Dia de Los Libros, a celebration of childhood and bilingual literacy, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District presents professional heavyweight wrestling champion Mil Mascaras on Saturday at West Las Vegas Library, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. At 1:30 p.m. is a screening of his movie, "La Llave Mortal." At 3:30 p.m. is a talk by the wrestler. Admission is free. Call 734-7323.
Annual event
Barley's Casino & Brewing Co. presents its annual Brewfest, featuring exhibits by Southern Nevada microbreweries, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 (ages 21 and older). Call 458-2739.
Dogs' day
KB Home and the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are sponsoring "Paws Cause," a dog adoption, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tierra Linda community near Blue Diamond Road. Regional artists

Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation begins today with screenings at 7:15 p.m., 9:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. daily through May 4 at Paradise 6 Theaters, 3330 E. Tropicana Ave. The festival continues at 11:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, May 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 and May 31 through June 1. Tickets are $7 (ages 18 and older) and are available at the door.
UNLV's women's studies department is sponsoring the short film "Masturbation Liberation," by student Elaine Vigneault, as part of the "Spring Flicks" student film festival at 7 p.m. today at the university. Call 895-0837.
