Letter: World is full of immoral adults
Thursday, April 25, 2002 | 9:18 a.m.
Regarding the April 15 letter on parents instructing their children to jaywalk:
Adults teaching kids to jaywalk? Where have you been hiding? I have seen adults tell kids to dump bags of fast food garbage in parking lots. I have seen them tell kids to leave shopping carts in the next parking spot as well as to push the cart that belongs to the store to their home with their purchases in it.
I have seen adults feed children unpaid-for fruit and cookies in the grocery store, and tell them to put a package of cold meat on a shelf of canned goods when they decided they did not want to buy it. I have seen adults tell children to lie about their age to get into movies and restaurant buffets at lower prices.
I have seen adults tell children to lie to their teachers about why homework was not done or why they were not in school. I have even seen an adult purchase a product, use some of it, and have a child put it back in the box and return it for a refund. In national parks I have seen adults tell children to disregard signs that protect priceless natural features so they can get a picture.
Most people are just selfish and egocentric, wanting what they want when they want it without regard to the rest of society. The vast majority of people are cavemen in designer clothes without morals or ethics.
