Owner donates wheelchairs

The North Dakota chapter of the Wheelchair Foundation is holding distribution events in Fargo and Grand Forks this week.

The foundation is working with the North Dakota Association for the Disabled to provide free wheelchairs to people in the state who need them, said former Gov. Ed Schafer, who is heading the foundation's state chapter.

Las Vegas and Mississippi casino owner and North Dakota benefactor Ralph Engelstad, along with his wife, Betty, are donating the wheelchairs. Officials said more than 120 people in eastern North Dakota have already applied.
