Man found shot to death

A man found dead inside a car Tuesday in the 2400 block of Sunrise Avenue was identified as 31-year-old Jose J. Hernandez of Las Vegas.

Metro Police officers, responding to calls of shots fired in the area, found Hernandez dead in the car from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

Witnesses reported that other vehicles were seen near the victim's car. Detectives said it is not known if those other cars had anything to do with the slaying.

Girl, 17, was stabbed to death

A woman found dead last week on the side of the highway leading to Mount Charleston was identified as 17-year-old Nyeifha Monique Johnson of Las Vegas.

Johnson was found stabbed to death on the side of Kyle Canyon Road about two miles west of U.S. 95 about 5:45 a.m. April 18. Metro Police said.

Police suspect the woman was killed in another location and her body was dumped on the side of the road.

Two men left on side of road

One of the men found dead on the side of a road Monday was identified as 19-year-old Julian Canno-Martinez of Las Vegas.

Canno-Martinez and another man, whose name has not been released, were found Monday about 6 a.m. on the shoulder of the road at Hammer Lane and Auto Street, near Lamb Boulevard and Interstate 15, Metro Police said.

The men were bound, but there was no apparent cause of death. An autopsy will determine how the men died.
