Gary Norman 'Jerry' Abelsen

Gary Norman "Jerry" Abelsen, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 27, 1930, in Orange, Calif. A resident for eight years, he was a retired owner-operator of an automotive repair shop.

He is survived by four daughters, Nancy Kay Orr, Jamie L. Abelsen and Karen Robertson, all of Las Vegas, and Marcia L. Anderson of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; four sons, David Norman Abelsen and David Bradley Anderson, both of San Clemente, Calif., and Keith Anderson and Kevin Anderson, both of San Fernando Valley; one sister, Murray Riss of Bothel, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

William Brown

William Brown, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Palmer, Ark. A resident for 10 years, he was a construction worker for 50 years, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1944 and IVOE Local 12.

He is survived by his wife, June M.; one son, William T. Brown of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four stepchildren; one brother, Duane Brown of Alabama; two sisters, Gynn Ballinger of Pennsylvania and June Balser of Michigan; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Louis John Eliopulos

Louis John Eliopulos, 47, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1954, in Grand Junction, Colo. A resident for 27 years, he was a ticket agent in the airline and sports industries and attended UNLV and the University of Utah.

He is survived by his mother, Goldie K. Eliopulos, and one sister, Tina Eliopulos, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church or the Clark County Animal Shelter, 4800 W. Dewey Drive.

Charles F. Fithian

Charles F. Fithian, 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Washington, Pa. A resident for nine years, he was a retired estate planner and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lori.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Don W. Griffith

Don W. Griffith, 66, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 2, 1936, in London, Ontario. A resident for 39 years, he was a farrier.

He is survived by two sons, Gar Griffith of Pahrump and Richard Griffith of Las Vegas; three daughters, April Altman, Carrie Griffith and Stacey Griffith, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Willa Williams, one brother, Gary Griffith, and two sisters, Wendy McRoberts and Dudy Esseltine, all of Canada; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Vincent Iandoli

Vincent Iandoli, 61, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 13, 1940, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired carpenter and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by one stepdaughter, Lauri Kolman, and one stepson, Rickey Briggs, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Ann Ceriale of Yonkers, N.Y.; one brother, Joseph Iandoli of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Visitation was scheduled 10 a.m. until noon services today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Ellene E. Knox

Ellene E. Knox, 86, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 6, 1916, in San Bernardino, Calif. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired legal secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth F.; two sisters, Helen Bogatin of San Bernardino, Calif., and Beth Adkins of Colton, Calif.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mary L. Kuster

Mary L. Kuster, 82, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born July 22, 1919, in Washington, D.C. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired supervisor for the Army Map Services.

She is survived by two nephews, Brian Sprinkle of Las Vegas and Sean Harty of Atlanta; and two nieces, Sheila Phillips of Fenton, Mo., and Joan Harty of Virginia.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Alice May Lease

Alice May Lease, 95, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Newcomerstown, Ohio. A resident for eight years, she was an elementary school teacher.

She is survived by one son, Robert Harold Lease, and one daughter, Janice Lease, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Mountain View Seventh Day Adventist Church, 6001 W. Oakey Blvd. Burial will be in California.

Kent I. Leonard

Kent I. Leonard, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Lebanon, Va. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired Air Force master sergeant, World War II and Korean War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, June A. Leonard of Gainesville, Fla.; one son, Benny R. Leonard of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Henry Taylor Leonard of Stokesdale, N.C., and Alexander Leonard of Itmann, W.Va.; one sister, Kathleen Leonard of Chilhowie, Va.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park

John F. Milbrodt

John F. Milbrodt, 77, of Henderson died March 16 in a local care center. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for seven years, he owned a public relations firm, was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Shriners and a life member and former committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

He is survived by one sister-in-law, Carol Neunhoffer of Henderson.

Services are private. A private burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Ronald E. Nelson

Ronald E. Nelson, 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Jamestown, N.Y. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired prison senior corrections officer and a Korean War and Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lorette; one son, Larry Nelson of Las Vegas; two daughters, Ellen Benfatti of Vista, Calif., and Lisa Guerin of Henderson; one brother, Gordon Nelson of Laurel Hills, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Elmer T. Pilon

Elmer T. Pilon, 73, of North Las Vegas died April 3 in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Bloomfield, N.M. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired radio announcer, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Moose and a graduate of Apollo Technical School.

He is survived by one son, Michael Padilla, and one daughter, Beverly Padilla, both of Aztec, N.M.; one sister, Diane Rios of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow at noon Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Eva Ramos

Eva Ramos, 54, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1947, in the Philippines. A resident for five years, she was a beautician and hairdresser.

She is survived by her husband, Julio Jr.; two sons, Christopher P. Ramos of Sacramento and Brian P. Ramos of Las Vegas; one daughter, Rosemarie P. Ramos of Las Vegas; her mother, Scion Pura, and two sisters, Luz Pura and Lydia Pura, all of Carson City; four brothers, Ray Pura of San Diego, Rolando Pura of Carson City and Allen Pura and Rainer Pura, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Andrea C. Saylor

Andrea C. Saylor, 53, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born March 22, 1949, in Taft, Calif. A resident for 11 years, she taught special education at Brown Middle School in Henderson.

She is survived by her husband, Dean E.; two daughters, Amanda Sailor of Las Vegas and Alexis Sailor of Henderson; one son, Josh Sailor, and her mother and stepfather, Laureli and Bill Cryer, all of Mesopotamia, Ohio; her father and stepmother, Kenneth and Caroline Casparis of Lompoc, Calif.; two sisters, Chris Landrum and Karen Smith, both of Mesopotamia; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Thursday in Palo Verde LDS chapel, Henderson.

Michael Joseph Slattery Sr.

Michael Joseph Slattery Sr., 68, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born March 18, 1934, in Chicago. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired plastering contractor, a Korean War Army veteran and a former member of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Cheryl Norman of Henderson, Nancy Loving of Loveland, Colo., and Patricia Ekstrom of Tucson; two sons, Michael Slattery Jr. of Las Vegas and Dennis Slattery of North Las Vegas; one brother, David Slattery of Chicago; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be noon Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Walter E. 'Doc' Vowell

Walter E. "Doc" Vowell, 85, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 16, 1916, in Louisville, Miss. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired baker, a World War II Army veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, a member of Silver Cord Masonic Lodge 51, Dhahran Masonic Lodge 55, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, York Rite 163 and Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by three brothers, Ray Vowell of Greenwood, Miss., Pete Vowell of Little Rock, Ark., and R.B. Vowell of Fort Smith, Ark.; and two sisters, Georgia Lee Gentry of Philadelphia, Miss., and Audine Sultan of Lena, Miss.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
