Police probe deaths of two men

Metro Police are investigating the discovery of two bodies found near Craig Road and Lamb Boulevard about 6 a.m. Monday.

Officers said the bodies were of two Hispanic men in their mid-20s who had been bound with restraints.

There was no apparent cause of death, and an autopsy was scheduled for today, Metro Police homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

The identities of the two men had been determined by the Clark County medical examiner's office, but were not released because their families had not been notified.

The homicides are similar to the death of a man found shot to death in a car on Lake Mead Boulevard, about six miles east of Hollywood Boulevard on Wednesday.

Carlos Alcantar, 27, was found in the back seat of a Plymouth Breeze by a passing motorist, police said.

Alcantar's hands were tied behind his back, police said.

"There is no connection at this point, but there is the remote possibility they could be related," Monahan said. "It's one of the many things we're looking at."

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call police at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Woman in Dion case is arrested

A woman claiming that she was sexually assaulted by Celine Dion's husband was arrested in Pasadena, Calif., Wednesday on charges of passing false checks.

Yun Kwon Sung, 46, is charged with passing $500,000 in false checks in Las Vegas casinos, Clark County Assistant District Attorney Dan Ahlstrom said.

Sung's bail was set at more than $5 million, and prosecutors are hoping to get her extradited back to Las Vegas to face charges of passing more than five false checks at Harrah's and the Flamingo.

Sung, also known as Yun Kyeong Sung Kwon, has filed a lawsuit in Clark County District Court alleging that she was assaulted by Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, two years ago in Las Vegas.

Site moved to Thomas & Mack

A lecture by former President Clinton on Monday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has been moved to the Thomas & Mack Center to provide more seating.

The change in location will allow between 4,500 and 6,000 people to hear the lecture, compared with 3,100 in the Cox Pavilion, UNLV spokesman Tom Flagg said. The capacity at the Thomas & Mack will depend on demand, Flagg said.

So many tickets had gone to on-campus community groups the week before, that it was clear there would not be enough, and arrangements for the move were made within 15 minutes of the ticket office opening Monday, Flagg said.

Those who did not receive tickets but left phone numbers have been called and told that tickets are available.

The tickets are free and available, two per person, at the Thomas & Mack ticket office 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 895-3900.

Herrera gets help from congressman

Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., stumped for congressional candidate Dario Herrera during a fund-raising visit to Las Vegas on Monday.

Kennedy, the son of Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., raised nearly $20,000 during a breakfast event at the home of Bob Forbuss, a key Democrat whose political activities include service on public boards.

Herrera joined Kennedy during a town hall meeting for seniors at the Painters Union Hall in Henderson. Kennedy backed Herrera in his bid for Nevada's newly created 3rd Congressional District.
