March new home sales steady

New home sales in the Las Vegas Valley in March were about even with sales in March 2001, say statistics from home building industry research firm SalesTraq.

Home builders in Las Vegas sold 1,937 new homes in March, up from 1,928 homes in the same month a year ago.

SalesTraq's data also said the median new home price in Las Vegas rose 5.5 percent year-to-year, from $168,978 in March 2001 to $178,324 a year later.

SalesTraq executives predict the median new home price will reach $200,000 in the second quarter of 2003.
